136 I found Mr. Mason's book Restoration to be highly valuable, relevant, timely and crucial. The problem I see ahead is that the issues he addressed are so deeply entrenched in Mormon culture, I am somewhat pessimistic about them being reversed. It would be pretty amazing if current leadership could reference his book or perhaps, rather reference his sound biblical/general conference resources in a mass attempt to redirect many members' old-fashioned notions that unfortunately have diverged from Christ's original message. Christ's message is so much bigger than many of us long-time members originally comprehended. With humility and study of Christ's words and works, individuals can certainly gain a better understanding of what the Restoration means, but so many of us take the easy way out and follow the crowd with regard to popular opinion about social justice issues or lean on the flimsy pillar of patriarchy to justify our cloistered attitudes. I could see die-hard conservative members criticizing his book as being "too liberal" or "leaning left" when if they would examine Christ's life, they would see clearly what Author Mason is trying to convey. It is time to shed the limiting view of only one right way to worship God, and instead to embrace the diversity of faith with open arms and work together to ultimately show every single human being God's pure love. If we're busy judging everyone as not 'doing it right', we are completely missing the boat. Mason's book is well-thought out, beautifully executed, meticulously researched, and contains just the right amount of wit to soften the potentially gentle chastening nature of the text. Bravo.
